IMATS WEEKEND HAUL - SYDNEY 2012

A little late, but I thought I'd share with you the items I purchased from this year's IMATS weekend in Sydney held on the 29th and 30th of September.  I had an awesome time last year (especially when it coincided with the ABBW) - enjoyed meeting fellow bloggers and of course, the shopping!  This year, I definitely wanted to visit the Hakuhodo stall again, and also purchase a Rae Morris brush or two given that she's now selling her brushes individually and not just in a set. ^_^  As you can tell, I'm a bit of a makeup brush bandit. ;-)

  1. Kaede Kinoko White-L - the most expensive item of the lot, but I'm so looking forward to using this beauty.  It is so small, yet extremely dense and soft.
  2. Fan Brush GS - this is soooo soft!!!  This will be amazing for contouring.
  3. J232 : a terrific dual function brush as the angled shape makes it suitable for blending eye shadow as well as applying, because it's flat.
  4. G5556BkSL - 4mm - a really interesting brush that I've never seen before.  It's an angled stippling brush with natural hair and the tip of the brush is synthetic - 4mm in length.
  5. G5528BkSL - a pencil-shaped brush for blending out eye liner around the eyes.
  6. G5522BkSL - can't ever have too many eye shadow blending brushes methinks!  I love them!
  7. J122 - a small, angled, flat-end brush that can be used to blend eye shadow, but I also want to use it to blend under-eye concealer.
  8. G544 - perfect for soft application of strongly pigmented blushes, or applying foundation with an 'air-brushed' finish.
  9. J532 - a flat, straight-end brush for packing on eye shadow, lining the eyes, or even contouring the nose.
  10. J601 - retractable brush that's perfect for keeping in my handbag or traveling.
I also purchased a cute, little brush (soft) case to store some of the brushes in my handbag or for travelling.  The code for this case is Po810Sb in case you were wondering (there are no names with Hakuhodo products, just codes, which is a little tricky to remember, unfortunately!).

  • #21 Deluxe Buffer - super soft and dense!  Can't wait to use this for buffing in mineral powder foundation, or even liquid foundation. :)
  • #7 Deluxe Precision Shader - this has an extremely pointed tip for precise eye shadow application.

I also purchased her latest book - 'Timeless Makeup'.  This is my third makeup book by Rae Morris - I love them all!  They are absolutely the best - I highly, highly recommend!  I was also lucky enough to meet her, get the book personally signed and have a photo taken with her. ^_^  (Last year, I was too shy!)  Apart from being talented, in person I found her to be so lovely, down-to-earth, and willing to share amazing tips and ideas about makeup.  Love her!
Rae Morris happily signing her books for fans at IMATS. :) (Taken with my iPhone)

4SS Eye Brush - this is a nice brush that's inexpensive and is big enough to be used not just for blending eye shadow, but applying highlighter to the high points of the face, contouring the nose and also blending out concealer on spots/blemishes and darkness under the eyes.

All the products together in one happy snap :)

I purchased Inglot's new range of summer nail polishes called 'O2M Breathable Nail Enamels' in shade number: 668, 669 and 662.  I also wanted to get a gorgeous pink shade in 660, but they'd sold out.  However, I was determined and purchased it at the Inglot counter after IMATS (albeit being at full RRP).  I must say though that I was a little surprised that the nail polishes were more expensive than I expected given that the rest of Inglot's products are relatively low in price generally.  Anyway, hopefully these will be as beautiful on the nails as they appear in the bottle!
Up close and out of their boxed packaging - 'O2M Breathable Nail Enamels' from L - R: 668, 669 and 662.
L - R: MAC Frost Eye Shadow in 'Cranberry' (see swatch below); Inglot 2 Eye Shadow Square Freedom System Palette and Inglot Eye Shadow in Pearl 420 (I'm a sucker for purple grey!).

I also purchased the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tar in 'Pretty Boy' (see swatch below).  I'd swatched one in 'Memento', which was a gorgeous warm pink, but they'd sold out of this one. :-(  This is the first time to try this product and this brand, so I'm quite excited.

Then there was MAC's Eye Khol Pencil in 'Teddy', which is apparently a favourite amongst MAC lovers, and I too fell in love with it when I swatched it!  It's a beautiful, rich, warm brown with a gorgeous subtle shimmers (see swatch below - note the shimmers are more apparent in person than in the photograph unfortunately).
Swatches (against olive medium-tan / ~NC30 skin tone) taken indoors under artificial lighting and using a strobe: OCC Lip Tar in 'Pretty Boy', MAC Khol Pencil in 'Teddy', MAC Frost Eye Shadow in 'Cranberry'.

For skin care, I purchased a few Embryolisse items for the first time, which I've heard a rave reviews about (particularly from the Pixiwoo sisters on You Tube!).  I also already developed a soft spot for French skin care having tried them myself and loved them, which reaffirmed my purchases. ;-)  The Embryolisse items were: the Anti-Age Firming Cream (this felt and looked fantastic on my hand when I tried it, so couldn't pass it up even though it seemed to be aimed at more mature skin - prevention is key to anti-aging - it makes sense to me, at least...hehe).  I also snapped up the ever popular 'Lait Crème Concentre' Moisturiser for all skin types, which is the one that the Pixiwoo sisters swear by and apparently works great under makeup.  Finally, from Embryolisse, their Lotion Micellaire (also suitable for all skin types) - a 'soothing and cleansing make-up remover' for face, eyes and lips - which is a clear liquid similar to my favourite make-up remover Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleanser (see my review HERE).  I'm almost out of my Bioderma supply and not sure how to get hold of it again since Zuneta.com no longer sell them, which is a bit of a worry!  Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying the Embryolisse one and see how they compare.

Last but not least from IMATS, just for fun, I purchased the Premium Glamour Lashes, which were very inexpensive.  It looks like a dupe for Paperself Lashes.  The pair I bought has cute, little birds on them.  Not sure where and when I'll wear it!  LOL. Perhaps Halloween is a good time? ;-)

I only attended IMATS on the Saturday, but the beauty shopping didn't end there. Hehe... On Sunday I purchased some Becca goodies and a Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in 'Indian Pink' (06).

Back (L - R): Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Illuminator SPF 25+ in 'Moonstone' (new shade) - so pretty!; Becca Luminous Skin Colour (Tinted Moisturiser SPF 25+) in 'Camel' (the most yellow-based shade I could find in the range and hoping this will match my skin's undertone more for once!  Though I suspect it's too light, I'll try to correct with a bit of bronzer); Front (L - R): Becca Beach Tint in 'Dragonfruit' and 'Lychee' (both new gorgeous bright shades!  Can't wait to try these!); Right-most: Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in 'Indian Pink' (06).

Well, that's it.  I'm really looking forward to trying all the products!  :-)  Hope this was interesting.

Thanks for reading! ^_^ xo
